Animal shelter. When hearing this, we usually associate it with abandoned dogs and cats. However, there is a farm in Kiskőrös where injured crows are housed and cared for. Nearly 300 birds live here, most of them will never be able to thrive alone in nature, so they must stay here forever. These are birds that hardly anyone cares about rescuing in Hungary. Many of them end up here due to human cruelty and indifference. Zsuzsa Slamovics and her partner, József Szente, keep Crow House running mostly on their own, they devote all their income and time to caring for the birds. There is a special bond between human and animal here: this place is a real home for the crows. In addition to the frailty and vulnerability of crows, I also wanted to visualize the couple's commitment and devotion in this autonomous report.
The images were taken between November 2023 and May 2024.
