Few people know that anyone can join an archaeological excavation as a volunteer. In this way, the work can become a real community event and experience, and whether it is enthusiastic amateurs, volunteers, students or hobby metal detectorists, they can work in perfect harmony with the professional archaeologists. The excavations on Sibrik hill in Visegrád have been going on like this for ten years now.
I wanted to show something positive with this project, because lately we are surrounded by so much tragedy and pain, and we are slowly getting to the point when we don't really appreciate the quieter, drama-free activities that bring people together and create something lasting. In 2023, no sensational finds were found, but a lot of coins from the Roman era, bone combs, and everyday objects were excavated, which gave the museum restorers work for many months.
